The Future of Natural Gas

Renewable Solutions for Northern Ireland’s
Natural Gas Network.

A Cleaner Energy Future for Northern Ireland

At Kinecx Energy, we’re committed to delivering sustainable energy solutions across Northern Ireland’s Ten Towns area.

Renewable gas, particularly biomethane, represents an exciting opportunity to reduce carbon emissions while utilising our existing gas infrastructure.

Here's how we're working towards

A Greener, Cleaner Future

As we continue our journey toward a greener, cleaner NI, we are working on ways to lower carbon emissions whilst providing convenient & reliable home heating for our customers.

We will use our existing network to deliver lower carbon and renewable gas solutions such as biomethane and hydrogen, so you can connect to the comfort of gas heating with even less impact on the environment.

What is Biomethane

Biomethane is a carbon-neutral renewable gas produced from local farm and food waste through anaerobic digestion. This sustainable energy source is chemically identical to natural gas, meaning you can use your existing gas heating system and appliances with no expensive equipment changes are needed when switching to renewable gas.

What is Green Hydrogen

While biomethane leads our current renewable gas strategy, we're also exploring green hydrogen opportunities. This zero-carbon gas can: Store renewable energy efficiently, power industrial processes, support heavy transport & complement biomethane in our network.

What is a hybrid system

Hybrid systems combine a gas boiler with an air source heat pump, the heat pump will operate most of the time with the gas boiler kicking in during colder spells or where there is an increased demand for hot water.
